 im Durchschnitt das Gestein umso weicher ist, je dünner
 die "Bänke" sind.
    Es können drei Aussagen zur Faltung bzw. Schichtung im
 Kartiergebiet gemacht werden:
    1) Ein eindeutiges Streichmaximum von Faltenachsen,
 das mit dem "Pi"-Pol aus den Schichtflächen übereinstimmt,
 ergibt sich aus den Diagrammen nur für die Obere Gruppe
 der Kali Gandaki-Gruppe, d.h. für den NW-Teil des Kartier-
 gebietes (Taf. 14). Dieses Areal ist es auch, in dem
 allein Kink Bands und kleinere Spitzfalten gefunden wur-
 den (z.B. bei km W 9.500). Das Streichen der Faltenach-
 sen ist WNW-ESE mit geringer Streuung. Die kleineren
 Spitzfalten und Kink Bands dieses Areals können zu F4
 gerechnet werden.
    2) Innerhalb des N' Teiles der Chappani-Formation wurde
 anhand eines Stromatolithen-Bildes überkippte Lagerung
 festgestellt (Abb. 9). Die genaueren Verhältnisse der
 Überkippung konnten nicht geklärt werden.
    3) Wenn die Schichten des S-Teiles des Kartiergebietes
 auch weitgehend ungefaltet sind, so gibt es doch an ver-
 einzelten Punkten eine disharmonische Kleinfaltung im
 cm- bis dm-Bereich (s. Abb. 12 und 15). Sie tritt im Tan-
 sen-Sandstein meist in Schichten von weicherem, zerrüt-
 tetem Material zwischen Schichten von hartem, intaktem Ma-
 terial auf.

 the average the rock is the softer, the thinner the banks
 are.
    Tree statements regarding the folding, resp. the bedding
 may be written:
    1) A definite striking maximum of fold axis, which
 matches with the pi-poles of the bedding_planes, exists only
 in the Upper Group of the Kali Gandaki Supergroup, that means
 in the NW part of the mapping area. This part of the area is
 also the part, in which kink bends and smaller sharp folds
 were found (e.g. at km W 9.500). The fold_axis strike WNW-ENE
 with low dispersion. The smaller sharp folds may be put to
 F4.
    2) Within the northern part of the Chappani Formation
 overturned bedding conditions were found indicated by
 stromatolithes (see figure 9). The precise conditions of the
 overturning could not be cleared.
    3) Although the banks in the S part of the mapping area
 are generally not folded, there exists at single localities a
 disharmonic small scale folding in centimeter- to meter-
 dimension (see figure 12 and 15). It appeares in connection
 with faults, in soft, destroyed banks between hard banks,
 especially in soft banks of "Tansen-sandstone" between
 intact hard banks of "Tansen-sandstone".
